Westport-Weston Family Y to 'Top Off' New Facility Wednesday

The Westport-Weston Family Y will celebrate a milestone in the construction of its new facility at its Mahackeno campus Wednesday, when work crews from United Steel will “top off” the building by installing the crowning piece of steel within the structure’s framework.

The 20-ft. steel beam to be put in place was signed by Y staff, volunteer leaders, major donors to the new facility's capital campaign, and the Y’s construction partners in the $38.5 million project to build a modern new center of health, wellness, and fellowship for our community.

Construction of the 54,000 sq. ft. facility on the Y's 32-acre Mahackeno campus began in January 2013 and is expected to wrap up in September 2014. 

Y leaders will be on hand at the 1 p.m. ceremony to provide the latest updates about the construction of the new facility.

The Y's Mahackeno campus is located at 14 Sunny Lane. Parking is available in the commuter parking lot adjacent to the northbound on/off ramp of Exit 41 of the Merritt Parkway.
