Bank Robber Shot Woman In Leg At Wells Fargo, Officials Say

Officials called the robber "brazen."

BRANDON, FL — Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is looking for help to identify a masked individual it says shot a woman in the leg during a robbery of Wells Fargo Bank in Brandon, FL.

The incident happened Wednesday night, and deputies were called to the bank at about 9 p.m. According to the report, the deputies found a woman with a gunshot wound to her leg.

The bank is at 204 S. Kings Ave.

The woman drove up to one of the bank's exterior ATMs to make a deposit, according to the report, when a man with a 9mm gun in a dark hoodie and mask came up to her window. She told police that she locked her door when he began yelling for her money. He then fired into the driver's side rear window of the car, and then shot into the driver's window, wounding the woman, deputies said in the report.

After shooting the woman, the robber grabbed the deposit bag from her car and took off, according to the sheriff's office.

The woman went to Tampa General Hospital because of her non-lethal wound.

"Anyone with information reference the suspect is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 247-8200 or anyone with any information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the suspect and who wants to be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call Crime Stoppers at1-800-873-TIPS (8477)," the office said. Only those who call Crime Stoppers are eligible for the reward.
