Body Found In Valrico Retention Pond On 4th Of July: Authorities
The body did have injuries that appeared to be from an alligator attack, Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
VALRICO, FL — A body was found in a Valrico retention pond on the night of July 4, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
HCSO's Underwater Recovery Team discovered the female victim in the water behind the Landing Bar and Grill, 4351 Lynx Paw Trail, Valrico, after 8:40 p.m., Sunday.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a woman found in a Valrico retention pond Sunday night. Alligators are frequently seen in this retention pond, deputies said. Injuries consistent with an alligator attack were seen on the body. The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner's office, investigators said.

"What a tragic ending to the 4th of July holiday for this woman's family and friends," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "I want to thank our local partners for their cooperation with this investigation as we work to learn what led up to her death."
