In the TBO.com report, staff reporter Nick Williams reported on an interview with Ben Bromley, Armwood's junior varsity and assistant varsity basketball coach. He reportedly confirmed Meeks’ death Saturday afternoon and said doctors could not yet provide answers about what killed Meeks.

“He was on a ventilator, his heart shut down, his lungs shut down and his fever spiked,” Bromley reportedly accounted.

Brandon High School Principal Carl Green reportedly is prepared, with the assistance of school district officials, to address student grief when school reopens for classes Monday, Sept. 23.
