The event also includes the culmination of the Honorary Mayor of Brandon race.

BRANDON, FL – For the 60th straight year, Brandon will stop to celebrate America with a parade through the area’s streets.
The Brandon Fourth of July Parade 2017 is set to take place on Tuesday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event, put on annually by The Community Roundtable, is known as Florida’s largest Independence Day Parade.
The parade will start at 101 E. Lumsdon Road (where Lumsdon intersects with Parsons Avenue) and will proceed north on Parsons. The parade will then turn west onto Robertson Street, where it will end at Buckingham Place.

Although the parade will not travel on Lumden Road, the street will be closed between Kings Avenue and Parsons Avenue starting at 7:30 a.m.
The parade also acts as the culmination of the Honorary Mayor of Brandon race. The Mayor’s Race begins on June 1 every year, and opens a season of fundraising for the candidates. Each candidate chooses up to three non-profit charities as beneficiaries.

The candidates then will appear before The Community Roundtable’s board at 8 a.m. prior to the parade to tally their “votes.” The candidate with the most money raised throughout the 33 days will be declared the winner.
The winning candidate of the honorary position, also hosted by The Community Roundtable, will ride in a convertible during the Fourth of July Parade. The Honorary Mayor of Brandon also will become a board member for The Community Roundtable for one year.
This year’s candidates are Sue Burkett and Linda Chion Kenney.
