BRANDON, FL — Hillsborough County launched on Thursday Targeted Vaccine Area initiative to vaccinate residents who live in senior homes and independent living communities.

The Hillsborough Department of Health and the University of South Florida College of Public Nursing has joined the county's Emergency Management and Department of Aging Services to assist. Tampa General Hospital will add resources to the program, health officials said.

The program finds locations where the 65 and older population are concentrated in Hillsborough County and delivers the vaccine to them. Thursday, vaccines were administered at Kings Manor in Tampa.
