DOT Announces Closures, Detours For S.R. 60, I-75, U.S. 301

Residents should prepare for some detours this weekend along Interstate 4, Interstate 75, State Road 60 and U.S. 301.

BRANDON, FL — Residents should prepare for some detours this weekend as the Florida Department of Transportation continues work on entrance ramps along interstates 4 and 75.

Both directions of State Road 60 are scheduled to be closed under I-75 between 11 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 and 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9.

For the eastbound S.R. 60 detour, traffic will be directed south on the I-75 frontage ramps to U.S. 301. At the fork in the ramp, drivers will use the left lane and use the "loop ramp" onto southbound U.S. 301. After crossing under I-75, turn left onto the ramp to enter northbound I-75 and continue driving on that ramp and follow the signs to eastbound S.R. 60.

For the southbound I-75 detour to eastbound S.R. 60, at the bottom of the exit ramp, turn right to go west on S.R. 60. Turn left and go south on U.S. 301. Before going under I-75, get into the left turn lane. Turn left onto the ramp to enter northbound I-75 and continue driving on that ramp and follow the signs to eastbound S.R. 60.

As an alternate eastbound route, drivers can stay on southbound I-75 and take Exit 254 to southbound U.S. 301. Cross under I-75, turn left and enter northbound I-75 and continue driving on that ramp and follow the signs to eastbound S.R. 60.

As an alternative westbound route, traffic will be directed onto northbound I-75 to Exit 260B (westbound Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard/SR 574). After taking the "loop" ramp onto westbound MLK and crossing over I-75, turn left to use the entrance ramp onto southbound I-75. Use Exit 257 to S.R. 60 and use one of the right turn lanes at the bottom of the ramp to go west on S.R. 60.

To detour from northbound I-75 to westbound S.R. 60, stay on northbound I-75, passing Exit 257 and using the next exit (Exit 260B: westbound Dr. Martin Luther King,Jr. Boulevard/SR 574). After taking the"loop" ramp onto westbound MLK and crossing over I-75, turn left to use the entrance ramp onto southbound I-75. Use Exit 257 to S.R. 60 and use one of the right turn lanes at the bottom of the ramp to go west on S.R. 60.

The southbound I-75 exit ramp to U.S. 301 (Exit 254) will be closed from 11 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 to 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10.

To detour, prior to Exit 254, use Exit 256 (signed to Toll 618/Selmon Expressway). Once on the frontage ramp, stay in the left lane and continue south past the exit to the Selmon Expressway. After passing the exit to Toll 618, get into the right lane. At the ramp split onto southbound I-75, stay in the right lane and follow the signs to U.S. 301.

The southbound I-75 Exit 261 ramp to I-4 is scheduled to be closed from 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 to 7 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 and from 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 to 5 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9.

Traffic will continue south on I-75 and use Exit 260 as a detour. At the traffic signal, turn left onto State Road 574 (Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard) and cross over I-75. Take the next left and enter northbound I-75 and then use Exit 261 to I-4.
