Florida Mom Delivers Baby Boy on Expressway

The newborn just couldn't wait to get to the hospital.

Jaden Rosales was in a big hurry to make his entrance into the world.

So big, in fact, the Riverview newborn arrived not only a few days early, but also quite a few miles shy of the hospital.

The baby boy’s father, Jose Rosales, pulled over near the 78th Street exit on the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway when it became clear his wife, Grendalee, was not going to make it for a traditional hospital delivery, The Tampa Tribune reported.

Jose then flagged down a passing motorist for assistance while Grendalee’s sister called 911, the Tampa Bay Times reported. By the time an ambulance made it to the scene, the baby had already been born, the paper noted.

Jose and the passerby reportedly presided over the special delivery, The Trib reported.

Mother and baby were taken to Tampa General Hospital after the delivery.

“The baby is doing awesome,” Dr. Luis Maldonado was quoted by the Times as saying.

As for Mom, she’s doing fine, too, Tampa General Hospital, noted on its Twitter feed.

Jaden weighed in at 7 pounds 12 ounces and is 20 inches tall.

Jaden, it seems, had a number of siblings along for the delivery, as well. Grendalee is now a mother of five, the Times noted.
