[Tampa] Dreaming of becoming a movie or music video producer? Hoping to get a job in TV or film? Wishing to start a business recording weddings or creating website videos? Thanks to Hillsborough County, residents may get free training through Tampa Bay Community Network.

Hillsborough County residents -- ages 18 and over -- are invited to attend professional video production training, where they will learn camera and producer basics, lighting and audio lessons, location and multi-camera recording, virtual set use, editing, marketing, social media and more.

“We are excited to be a part of the County’s workforce training efforts. We want to help the unemployed and underemployed generate income and express their creativity through the media arts,” said TBCN Executive Director Louise Thompson.

"Many of TBCN’s former students are employed by local network TV channels and the communications departments of for- and nonprofit agencies. Some run their own video production businesses or are involved in the film industry."

Classes are offered Tuesdays through Saturdays at TBCN’s Community Media Center located on the upper level of University Mall, 2200 E. Fowler Avenue, Tampa. Reservations are required. To register for classes, call TBCN at (813) 977-5200.

Tampa Bay Community Network is a service of Speak Up Tampa Bay, a 501c3 non-profit organization which provides video and audio production services, training, studios, edit suites and the equipment needed for individuals and non-profits to get their messages out on the Internet and local cable television. Viewers can find TBCN on FiOS cable channels 30 and 36, Spectrum channels 638 and 639 and Comcast channel 20 – as well as via tbcn.org/watchus.
