Free Sandbags Available in Hillsborough County

Breaking: Hillsborough County is opening three sandbag locations over the weekend.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Hillsborough County residents with concerns about possible flooding over the next few days can get free sandbags at three different locations this weekend.

Hillsborough County has announced the opening of three sandbag locations to help presidents prepare for the rain forecasters anticipate will soak the region. A tropical disturbance currently located off Florida’s northern Gulf Coast is expected to bring heavy rainfall into the region through Tuesday at least.

Residents of Hillsborough County can receive sandbags at the following locations:

  • West Service Unit, 9805 Sheldon Road
  • South Service Unit, 8718 Old Big Bend Road
  • East Service Unit, 4702 Sydney Road

Bags will be available between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

“Residents should bring shovels,” the county advised in an email. “Each resident must sign their name and provide their home address acknowledging the receipt of 25 sandbags or less”
