Hillsborough Firefighter Helps Save 4 in Bradenton

He spotted a Saturday morning blaze on his way into work.

When it comes to saving lives, a firefighter is never really off the clock.

At least that’s the case for Hillsborough County Fire Rescue’s Clint Walker who is credited with helping save four people from a burning Bradenton home on Saturday morning.

Walker was on his way to work around 6:30 a.m. when he spotted a column of smoke coming from a Bradenton neighborhood, an email to media from Hillsborough fire rescue stated. Walker put his trip to Sun City Center’s station No. 28 on hold and went to investigate.

Walker followed the smoke and found its source – a home at 610 21st St. W. that was on fire. The back of the home was fully engulfed as was a car parked outside, the email said. Walker called 911 and went to the home to wake up its residents.

Walker, the email said, was able to safely evacuate four adults from the burning home before fire crews arrived on the scene.

“Because of firefighter Walker’s quick thinking and bravery, four people were able to come out unharmed from a dangerous situation,” Hillsborough fire rescue’s Ronnie Rivera wrote in the email.
