Hillsborough County commissioners approved an agreement with Catholic Charities to provide homes to families displaced by the coronavirus.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Housing could be available in the near future to Hillsborough residents who lost their homes because of unfortunate circumstances caused by the coronavirus pandemic, according to the Hillsborough County Commission.

Commissioners approved an agreement with Catholic Charities of the Diocese of St. Petersburg Inc. on Monday to acquire and renovate a 20-unit motel in Ruskin that would offer housing to displaced residents.

The units will be set aside for households at or below 80 percent of area median income, according to commissioners.
