Selmon Expressway Lanes Notification For National Championship Game Weekend
The Selmon Expressway Reversible Lanes will be adjusted for the expected influx of drivers in Tampa.

TAMPA, FL – The sports world will have all eyes on the Tampa area next week when the College Football Playoff National Championship game will take place Monday, Jan. 9 at Raymond James Stadium.
For local residents, it may feel like the entire sports world is in the Tampa Bay area with an expected increase in drivers on the road coming from Alabama and South Carolina to watch the Crimson Tide take on Clemson.
The Tampa Hillsborough County Expressway Authority announced the Reversible Express Lanes on the Selmon Expressway will have different hours than normal on the weekend leading up to the championship game.

On Saturday, Jan. 7, the RELs will be turned westbound at 11 a.m. and then reversed to the eastbound direction at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Jan. 8, the RELs will be turned westbound at 11 a.m. then reversed eastbound at 8 p.m.
On Jan. 9 at 6 a.m., the REL will open westbound and resume its normal operating hours.

Normally, the RELs on the Selmon Expressway are turned eastbound from 1 p.m. on Friday until 6 a.m. on Monday. However, to accommodate several special events occurring around the College Football Playoff National Championship game, the Expressway Authority adopted the special hours for the upcoming weekend.
