BRANDON, FL — Frustration due to server issues and phone system mishaps was experienced by seniors throughout Hillsborough County Monday during the first day of registration for COVID-19 vaccines.

As registration continues Tuesday, the Hillsborough County Health Department has temporarily suspended online sign-ups, and has staffed extra agents in its call center to take phone calls from seniors who wish to schedule a vaccine appointment. The health department has also expanded its call center hours until 8 p.m., health officials said.

Extended phone waits are expected as the demand remains high in Hillsborough County, officials said.

The call center will return to normal hours of operation Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
