UCF Basketball Team Gains 7-Foot, 6-Inch Edge

Tacko Fall has committed to the UCF Knights.

University of Central Florida basketball fans may get kinks in their necks watching the Knights in action during the 2015-16 season.

The school has received an official commitment from Tacko Fall, a Liberty Christian Prep senior. At 7 feet, 6 inches tall, Fall is reportedly the tallest high school basketball player in the country.

Fall, who lives in Tavares, selected home-state school UCF over such contenders as Georgetown, Georgia State, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and Purdue, among others that had made offers, according to ESPN. Florida and Florida State also made offers to the teen.

Fall, whose full name is Elhadji Serigne Tacko Diop Fallis, is originally from Dakar, Senegal, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The teen selected UCF, the paper reported, because of Coach Donnie Jones. Fall’s host mother told the paper the teen had developed a “trust factor” with Jones.

Fall is a center who graduates in June 2015. While still a teen, he already stands 3 inches taller than the NBA’s tallest player Hasheem Thabeet of the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to Fox Sports.

UCF had an overall record of 13-18 during the 2013-14 season, according to ESPN.

Fall has said in the past he’d like to one day play in the NBA but first wants to earn a biochemistry degree, the Sentinel reported.
