Ascension Florida And Gulf Coast Hires New President And Chief Medical Officer Of Its Medical Group

Dr. Syed Jafri has more than 13 years of experience in leading healthcare organizations.

Syed Jafri, MD, has been named president and chief medical officer of Ascension Medical Group across the Ascension Florida and Gulf Coast market. Ascension Florida and Gulf Coast includes Ascension St. Vincent’s based in Jacksonville, Ascension Sacred Heart based in Pensacola, and Ascension Providence in Mobile, Alabama. Dr. Jafri began his new role on June 14.

Dr. Jafri has more than 13 years of experience leading healthcare organizations. Before this role, he worked at Banner Medical Group for more than seven years, most recently serving as physician executive for acute care and hospital medicine.

“I’m excited to begin this new role at such a well-respected healthcare organization with so many dedicated caregivers serving across Florida, Georgia and Alabama,” said Dr. Jafri. “I look forward to working together to ensure we’re doing everything in our power to provide personalized, high-quality, compassionate care as conveniently as possible.”

Dr. Jafri completed his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston, completed his medical training at the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine, and his Master of Science degree in Quantitative Management from Duke University. He has also been board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.
