6 Teens Arrested In String of 31 Burglaries In Zephyrhills

Zephyrhills police are investigating 31 burglaries in the city in the past month.

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL — Six teens have been arrested following a string of 31 burglaries in Zephyrhills between Feb. 22 and March 20.

According to Zephyrhills police, on Feb. 22, four burglaries took place around 11 a.m. in the area of 5th Avenue to 3rd Avenue and 9th Street to 20th streets. Three vehicles and one shed were broken into, and a wallet and a bike valued at $5,000 with stolen. Both have been recovered and returned to the owners.

Two teens were arrested in connection with two of the burglaries. The investigation into the other two burglaries is continuing.

On Feb. 28, three car burglaries took place around 10th and 11th streets and 13th Avenue. Another teen was arrested in connection with these burglaries.

On March 15, nine burglaries occurred in the Emerald Point mobile home park during which a golf cart was stolen. Another vehicle stolen in Lake County was found in the area. Police believe the burglar drove it to Zephyrhills and then abandoned it. The burglar fled in a stolen pickup truck and several law enforcement agencies participated in a pursuit, which ended with the Ocoee Police Department recovering the truck. However, the burglar remains at large.

Finally, on March 20 between 4:30 and 7 a.m., there were 13 burglaries committed between South Avenue and C Avenue and 9th Street to 20th Street. Stolen items include a purse, a diaper bag, a radio-controlled car, a wallet, shoes and AirPods.

After a search involving the Pasco County Sheriff's Office and Zephyrhills police, a youth was found hiding under a rotting carpet in the woods behind the Zephyrhills Train Depot and was arrested.
