Dear friends and neighbors,
Unlike years in the past we have not received any warning letter or information about the gas station that has been approved to be built on the North east corner of Livingston and County line Road. The proposed plans do not even mention the lake or show it. THIS GAS STATION IS 60 FEET FROM OUR LAKE!!!!
Personally we are not opposed to a commercial property at this intersection, however we do oppose a shortlist of excessive pollutant causing uses like gas stations, fast food etc. that will have a detrimental effect on our lake. Lakes and associated wetlands are among Florida‘s most sensitive and valuable environments. The high traffic uses of gas station or fast food will have a detrimental effect to Turtle Lake. This property HAS NO SEWAGE HOOKUP!! The property is next to houses that have septic tanks and the neighbors just north are on WELLS FOR THEIR DRINKING WATER which can easily be contaminated. The runoff will go into our lake either underground or over ground there is no where else for the run off to go, while it is true that stricter regulations and higher tech pollutant contamination devices (storm water ponds and underground storage tanks (that are PLASTIC)) have reduced toxic contamination from reaching surrounded areas the reality is that contamination continues.

Realizing there is strength in numbers we are once again rallying support for the opposition to placing a gas station so close to our lake. A dead lake will not only result in plummeting property values for all of us but also a lack of quality of life. There is no meeting scheduled for this It is going on with out any public voice so please take time to call the following to voice your opposition as soon as possible!!
