Alexandra Squier Memorial Fund Started

Friends of the Lutz woman hope to raise money for her burial and family's expenses.

Lutz residents are asking neighbors to rally around the mother of a woman who died Tuesday night.

Alexandra Hope Squier, known by those close to her as “Allie,” died from complications related to heart surgery. She was 30.

Squier suffered from heart problems her entire life and underwent numerous surgeries. A heart valve replacement on Monday was her last one.

Squier’s mother, Sherie Ellis, was her lifelong caregiver and took on her medical expenses as her own, according to the Alexandra Squier Memorial Fund page on GiveFoward.com.

“Her mother was injured on her job in May and (has) been unemployed since,” the page explains. “Because of losing her job and having to deal with her daughter’s medical problems she fell behind in her house payments and her house is currently in foreclosure, her vehicle is on its last leg, she is in fear every day that they will turn off her water and electricity.”

Ellis is also unsure how she will be able to afford a proper burial for Squier, she said in an email interview.

Ellis said her daughter was a “super huge NASCAR fan.” She had her dream come true in July when a friend’s mother arranged for her to travel to Daytona to see a live race.

“She loved Facebook’s social games and had hundreds of friends (online),” Ellis also wrote.

Allie was also an avid writer and a regular fixture on Halloween in her Cypress Cove neighborhood. Ellis is known there for going above and beyond with decorations and said her daughter looked forward to passing out the candy each year. She was named Miss Junior South Lutz in 2002.

Allie is survived by her mother and brothers, Jamie Squier and Jacob Ellis.
