Willie Taggart Will Be New FSU Coach: AP
Florida State officials met Monday with Willie Taggart in Arizona during a recruiting trip by the Oregon coach.

TALLAHASSEE, FL - Willie Taggart and Florida State have agreed to terms to make Taggart the 11th head coach in program history, the Associated Press reported Tuesday. Taggart, 41, will replace Jimbo Fisher, who left the Seminoles for a $75 million contract at Texas A&M.
Details of the deal between Taggart and FSU were not disclosed. Florida State officials met Monday with Taggart in Arizona during a recruiting trip. He informed Oregon players of his intention to take the FSU job on Tuesday afternoon, according to reports.
A native of Bradenton, the former USF coach comes to FSU as a proven recruiter in Florida. At USF, the Bulls went from 2–10 his first season to 10–2 in his last. Taggart will be the 10th coach in program history. He follows coach Bobby Bowden (1976-2009) and Fisher (2010-2017).

According to multiple reports, Jim Leavitt, the former USF’s head coach and currently Oregon's defensive coordinator, will join Taggart's Florida State staff. Taggart led Oregon to a 7-5 record this season.
