Everyday Heroes Honored At Rotary's Annual 9/11 Remembrance
The 9/11 Memorial was dedicated last year and is a permanent reminder of the difference that residents can make in the community.
LUTZ, FL — For the second year, the Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel recognized individuals and groups in the community for their heroism and sacrifices during the 2020 9/11 Memorial Local Heroes Awards at Tampa Premium Outlets Sept. 5.
The 9/11 Memorial was dedicated last year and is a permanent reminder of the difference that residents can make in the community throughout the year, said Christopher Casella, immediate past president of the club.
This year the club recognized the following individuals and organizations with a permanent plaque:

- Deputy Chris Stone, Pasco County Sheriff's Office: On June 8, 2019, Stone sustained a gunshot wound while apprehending a perpetrator. That wound was not only life-threatening but would typically end a person's career. Stone recovered and returned to full duty in a little over two months.
- Pasco Fire Rescue Station 27: The Crew of Station 27 rescued a 3-year-old from a fully involved structure fire. Their quick and brave response prevented an additional tragedy that day. Three years earlier, the same station assisted the mother of the 3-year-old in the child's delivery.
- AdventHealth, Wesley Chapel, Pasco County Fire Rescue and the Pasco County Sheriff's Office: Received an award for their courageous response to the coronavirus crisis in Pasco County.
