LUTZ, FL — As coronavirus cases continue to drop across the country while the number of those who are fully vaccinated continues to rise, residents are emerging from their cocoons and resuming their traditional celebrations including Fourth of July festivities.
Here's what's in store this July 4 in and surrounding Lutz:
Lutz's 4th Of July Hoe-Down
Where: County Line Produce Co., 109 Willow Bend Parkway, Lutz

When: Sunday, July 4 from noon to 8 p.m.
What: Hosted by Intensity Academy Gourmet Sauces, Jennifer Dobbs Realtor and County Line Produce Co., Lutz's Fourth of July Hoe-Down will include a fireworks show at dark, food trucks, a corn-eating contest, a watermelon-eating contest, live music including Charles Goodwin on stage from 7 to 8 p.m., a kids' stroller, wagon and Power Wheels parade and vendors.

Independence Day Festival
Where: The Grove at Wesley Chapel, 6033 Wesley Grove Blvd., Wesley Chapel.
When: Sunday, July 4 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
What: There will be craft vendors, food trucks, inflatables, axe throwing, games, batting cages, music and fireworks at 8:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults. A free kids' ticket comes with each adult ticket purchase.
July 4th Celebration At Avalon Park
Where: Avalon Park in Wesley Chapel
When: Sunday, July 4 from 5 to 9 p.m.
What: Avalon Park subdivision will host its annual Fourth of July celebration with a bounce park, a bike parade, a bake-off, community performances, and culminating in a fireworks show at 9 p.m.
Zephyrhills 4th Of July Summer Fest
Where: Zephyr Park, 38116 5th Ave., Zephyrhills
When: Sunday, July 4, from noon to 9:30 p.m.
What: Zephyrhills will host its sixth annual Zephyrhills Summer Fest featuring a classic car show, barbecue contests, games, hot dog= and watermelon-eating contests, a kids' dance-off, pony rides, 10 Tampa Bay food trucks, a vendor market with hand-made home decor, soaps, cottage bakers, jewelry and arts, water slides and bounce houses, and sponsor booths with giveaways and photo booths.
Entertainment will include DJ Express from noon to 5 p.m.; country band Fast4Ward from 5:30 to 7 p.m.; and county band Crossfire Creek from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
A 30-minute fireworks show over Zephyr Lake will take place at sunset.
The event is free but arm bands can be purchased for the water slides and bounce houses with all proceeds benefiting local charities.
These streets will be closed from noon to 10 p.m.:
- 5th Avenue, from 7th Street to 9th Street
- 8th Street, from 4th Avenue to 6th Avenue
Alcohol will be available in a designated area.

Starkey Market's 4th Of July Extravaganza
When: Sunday, July 4 from 5 to 11 p.m. (fireworks at 9 p.m.)
Where: Starkey Market, 3460 Starkey Blvd., Trinity
What: Starkey Market will offer a concert with the John Gonzalez Band, face painting for kids, food trucks, craft beer, wine and $5 drafts, and a private fireworks show hosted by Starkey Blueberry Farm at dusk. and food and beverages. Guests are advised to bring their own chairs and blankets. No outside food, drink or coolers will be allowed.

Patriotic Golf Cart Ride & Roll
Where: Railroad Square in New Port Richey
When: Saturday, July 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
What: Following a super successful roll-out last year, the Cotee River Golf Cart Owners are once again hitting the streets to put on a Patriotic Ride & Roll Saturday, July 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown New Port Richey. Staging will take place at 10 a.m. in Railroad Square and the Ride & Roll will begin at 11 a.m.
Boom By The Bay
Where: Multiple locations along the Hillsborough River in downtown Tampa
When: Sunday, July 4, starting at 5 p.m.
What: The event begins at 5 p.m. on July 4 with a boat parade and Blessing of the Fleet, which is presented by Friends of the Tampa Riverwalk. The parade will take a similar route as the holiday light boat parade but will have three blessing stations.
The parade will begin in the Tampa Convention Center basin, travel to the Heights and end at Sparkman Wharf. Public viewing locations include the Armature Works, Channelside Drive, the Tampa Convention Center, Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, Davis Islands, Harbour Island, Sparkman Wharf and Water Works Park.
Following the boat parade, Boom by the Bay programming will begin at 7 p.m. with family-friendly activities spanning six waterfront locations, including two new locations. Each site will feature activities for all ages, food vendors, entertainment, and fireworks, which will be choreographed together and launched simultaneously at dusk (approximately 9:15 p.m.).
The six locations this year include: Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park, presented by the Hard Rock; Armature Works; Tampa Convention Center; Sparkman Wharf; Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, presented by Tampa Downtown Partnership; and Bayshore Boulevard, presented by Coca-Cola Beverages Florida.
The event is free and open to the public. Event goers are reminded to follow COVID-19 safety guidelines and take advantage of sanitation stations at each location.
Independence Day Celebration at St. Pete Pier
Where: St. Pete Pier, 800 2nd Ave. N.E., St. Petersburg
When: July 2-4 (check link above for all times)
What: This three-day event includes the inaugural St. Pete Pier Run, Silent Disco, Gulp Coast Craft Beer Garden, food trucks and vendors, a pie-eating contest, live music on the Visit St. Pete Clearwater Main Stage, karaoke, the "Independence Day" movie, roaming entertainers and more.
The traditional Fourth of July fireworks show sponsored by the city of St. Petersburg is scheduled for 9 p.m., and will be visible from the entire downtown waterfront, including Bayshore Drive, Straub Parks and Vinoy Park.
