Hillsborough County Schools' Monday Status Announced
Hillsborough County Schools are monitoring Tropical Storm Colin's movements in the Gulf of Mexico.

Hillsborough County, FL — Hillsborough County students hoping for a long weekend were out of luck as of Sunday evening. The school district has announced that classes will take place Monday as normal.
“School is open tomorrow, Monday, June 6,” the district wrote in a Sunday evening email to media. “After consulting with the Emergency Operations Center, the city, the county, and other local school districts, school is open tomorrow.”
The district has cancelled all field trips and after-school activities for Monday, however. HOST and high school graduations set for Monday will go on as scheduled.

The district, however, says it is monitoring the progress of Tropical Storm Colin as it moves toward the Tampa Bay area. Tropical storm warnings have been issued for the entire region.
The district will issue another announcement if plans change in the overnight hours Sunday.
