Hugh Embry Library Launches New Chapter With Complete Makeover

DADE CITY, FL — The Hugh Embry Library is turning a page. Pasco County Libraries announced a new chapter for the downtown Dade City library, including a complete, floor-to-ceiling renovation.

The extensive work began shortly after the library closed Saturday.

The renovations are part of the General Obligation Bond (GO Bond) Referendum Pasco County voters passed in November 2018. Each library in the county’s system is being remodeled to provide patrons with a better experience. Work includes:

• Updated technology
• New furnishings
• High-efficiency air conditioning
• High-speed internet

“Most of the libraries were built in the 1980s, and we’re excited to completely reimagine the library experience for everyone in Pasco County,” said libraries program manager Bob Harrison.

The Hugh Embry Library is expected to reopen next spring. Meanwhile, residents can continue to check out books and other materials at open library branches throughout the county, including the newly renovated New River and Centennial Park branches. The South Holiday Library remains closed for remodeling.
