Lake Park Closed 'Until Further Notice'

A sinkhole estimated to be 90 feet deep opened on Wednesday inside the Lutz park.

Lake Park in Lutz remains closed following the opening of a sinkhole along one of the main roads Wednesday.

Officials from Hillsborough County on Thursday said the park would remain off limits to visitors “until further notice.” No updates were available on remediation efforts.

The county announced Wednesday morning that it had closed the 17302 N. Dale Mabry Highway park after the “confirmed sinkhole” opened on one of the main roads inside the regional attraction. The hole was estimated to be about 6 feet across and 90 feet deep.
