Lutz Centennial Planning Committee Meets Monday

The group welcomes anyone interested in helping organize a celebration for the community's 100th birthday.

As Lutz prepares to celebrate its centennial this year, residents are mapping out plans to mark the milestone.

The next meeting of the Lutz Centennial Committee is tonight, Jan. 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Boy Scout Troop 12’s Scout Hut, 205 Second Ave. S.E.

Anyone interested in learning more about the centennial celebration is invited to attend, committee chairman Bob Moore said.

“Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month and include a presentation on one portion of Lutz’s rich history,” Moore wrote in an email.

Right now the group is seeking more information about the Bit & Bridle Club and Old McDonalds Farm for future presentations. If you have information that can help, contact Moore at 813-949-6850.

Events related to the 100th birthday celebration will be held throughout 2013, with some coinciding with the annual July 4 festivities.
