'Movie Theater Of Future' To Open At The Grove In Wesley Chapel

The theater will feature an upscale bistro, Cycle Cinema, sushi bar and plush reclining chairs.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — Get ready for a new movie-going experience, said Mark Gold, president of Mishorim Gold Properties.

The Grove Theater, Bistro and Entertainment will open on Friday at The Grove at Wesley Chapel, 6105 Wesley Grove Blvd., Wesley Chapel. The two-story entertainment complex will feature an upscale bistro restaurant with in-movie dining, a sushi bar, a spin bike room, a comedy club, an acting studio and a 40-plus game arcade.

“The new Grove Theater, Bistro and Entertainment will become the hub of family fun,” said Gold. “With something for everyone, this complex will bring new life and opportunities to the Wesley Chapel community.”

Gold's development company purchased the mall last year and has spent millions transforming it into a dining and entertainment destination including trendy restaurants operating out of cargo containers, a concept first introduced to Tampa Bay by Sparkman Wharf in Tampa's Channel District.

Once a Cobb Theater, Gold said the Grove Theater has been transformed with comfort and safety in mind. In addition to offering plush, reclining seats, Gold has ensured the safety of visitors during the pandemic by providing:

  • Automatic temperature checks at the entrance
  • UV ;ight sanitation technology
  • Fog machines to disinfect the theaters between showings
  • Hand sanitizer stations throughout
  • Face coverings required
  • Limited capacity with movie seats assigned checkerboard style to allow social distancing

Inside the theater, guests will find:

  • An upscale bistro featuring in-movie dining, a full bar and seafood, pasta, steak and other offerings on the menu.
  • A sushi bar offering unique rolls and classic favorites
  • A cycle cinema in which riders can take spin classes led by an instructor to movie theater-pounding music and visuals on the screen that take riders through the Swiss Alps and other journeys.
  • A Side Splitters Comedy Club will open its second location inside the theater, hosting nationally touring comedians.
  • The arcade will feature more than 40 games.
  • A kids play place where, once complete, children will be able to engage in supervised play while their parents catch an adult movie.
  • An acting studio, which will provide plays and acting classes for children and adults.

Gold said the 85,000-square-foot building underwent a complete renovation to include an open-concept lobby, updated dining space, a new color scheme, new flooring and lighting fixtures.

Grove Theater, Bistro and Entertainment will be open Fridays through Sundays from 4 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets can be reserved here.

In addition to the theater complex and a 17-container culinary park that will initially be home to nine restaurants, Gold plans to build a water park, outdoor stage and miniature golf course on the 250-acre property.

Once complete, the container park, called the KRATE will feature 94 containers and 55 units with both restaurants and retail businesses, said Gold.
