NFL Draft: Free Crab Offered to Sweeten Deal for Bucs' Potential
A restaurant is offering to hook up former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston with free crab legs if the Bucs choose.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers might not have the best record in the NFL, but they can hook a player up with crab legs – plenty of them.
It seems north Tampa’s Skipper’s Smokehouse has jumped on the team’s recruiting bandwagon by offering former Florida State University quarterback Jameis Winston access to all the crab legs he wants should the team select him in the upcoming draft. Winston is a likely first-round draft pick for the Bucs and TMZ Sports reports the eatery simply wants to sweeten whatever deal he is offered to entice him here.
Winston was at the center of several controversies during his time as a Florida State quarterback. While he did win the Heisman Trophy and is considered a top quarterback pick in this year’s draft, he was also accused of rape in 2012, booted from play for making lewd comments about women and charged with a civil citation for allegedly swiping crab legs from a Tallahassee Publix. Winston maintains those legs were given to him by an employee, the Tampa Tribune reported.

“Yes, it’s for real,” the Tribune quoted Skipper’s Cricket Larson as saying about the free food offer.
“We’re all about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Florida State Seminoles - so we are the first ones joining the Jameis welcome wagon for his potential Tampa arrival,” the restaurant wrote on its Facebook page.
Skipper’s acknowledges Winston has a colorful past, but also says he has an opportunity to turn around.
“We do think with the support of the Tampa Bay community and folks like Derrick Brooks, Jameis can grow into a good asset for our team,” the Tribune quoted restaurant officials as saying.
The Bucs’ have reportedly spent a lot of time vetting Winston both on and off the field. Whether they go for Winston or not for their first round pick remains to be seen. The draft gets under way Thursday.
