Tampa Bay, FL – Tampa Bay area residents who forget their lists when shopping for those big 4th of July barbecues can breathe a little easier.

Both Publix and Winn-Dixie intend to open their stores throughout Florida during normal operating hours on Monday, July 4.

Publix’s Brian West assures last-minute shoppers the grocery chain’s locations throughout the Tampa Bay area will be ready to serve on the holiday. He also said customers can count on seeing a number of barbecue-related sales in honor of the holiday.

As for Winn-Dixie, all stores will also be open and they’re running a pretty big fundraiser that day, spokeswoman Meredith Holland told Patch.

“Southeastern Grocers, parent company and home of BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie, has pledged 100 percent of its profit generated on the Fourth of July to the Hope For The Warriors — every last cent,” Holland said.

Hope for Warriors is a national nonprofit that’s dedicated to helping veterans, service members and military families restore a sense of “self, family and hope,” Holland said.

This isn't the first time Winn-Dixie has played host to an Independence Day fundraiser in honor of the military. Southeastern Grocers raised more than $3 million for wounded veterans last July 4, Holland said.

Each Winn-Dixie store is also launching a “Wall of Honor” in time for the holiday. Customers can make donations to Hope for Warriors at local stores. When they do, they can pay tribute to their loved ones on the wall. The Wall of Honor fundraiser is set to run through July 10.
