Why Church, Science, Lacrosse Motivate This Sixth Grader

Lutz Prep sixth-grader Jacob Canals has big plans for the summer— and the future.

Jacob Canals is a straight-A student, a future marine biologist and a Warrior.

The Lutz Preparatory School sixth-grader plays defense for the Wesley Chapel Warriors lacrosse team, and credits his dad—and his coaches—for sparking his interest in the game.

“I really like my coaches. They have helped me a lot to learn about lacrosse because I am new this year and they were very welcoming of me,” Jacob said.

He also loves his church, Sonrise Worship Center.

“I've been going to Sonrise Worship Center since I was 4 years old. I like how I know everybody, I like my middle school group on Sunday mornings and I have really good friends that go there,” Jacob said.

Jacob has big plans for the summer— and the future.

“I want to be a marine biologist when I grow up because I love the water and all the ocean animals,” Jacob said. “I am going to get certified in scuba diving this summer. I go every year on vacation with my family to the Keys where I snorkel on the reefs and go boating every day.”
