TRINITY, FL — The Watermark at Trinity, an independent, assisted living and memory care community in Trinity, partnered with CVS Clinic to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to residents, associates and essential caregivers on Jan. 17.

Roughly 90 percent of residents received the vaccine, which will protect them against the deadly COVID-19 virus.

“The vaccine rollout is the latest layer of protection that we are offering our residents,” said David Schupack, executive director at The Watermark at Trinity. “Our residents have been waiting a long time for this and we are so thrilled to be able to offer it to them in the comfort of our community.”

The Watermark at Trinity made the Pfizer vaccine available to its assisted living and memory care residents, as well as associates, essential caregivers and compassionate caregivers. The community will administer the second dose on Feb. 7-8. Independent living residents will be vaccinated during Phase 2, during the first quarter of 2021, although exacts dates have not yet been determined.

“The vaccine takes a lot of the concern and pressure off of being worried about COVID,” said Walter Kleiwer, an essential caregiver whose wife lives at the community. “Once we get the second dose, I think we can breathe a sigh of relief.”

Throughout the pandemic, the community has adhered to strict safety protocols and followed best practices from federal and state authorities. Watermark’s established protocols of rigorous cleaning and disinfection processes are conducted throughout public areas in our communities including dining rooms, libraries, elevators, salons and lobbies. Safeguards include detailed procedures for housekeeping and laundry.

“The health and safety of our residents is our top priority,” said Schupack. “While administering the vaccine to our residents is a step in the right direction, we will continue to stay vigilant in keeping our community safe with social distancing, handwashing and masks.”
