Winn-Dixie Cuts Prices On Hundreds of Items
The new lower everyday prices are guaranteed for at least six months.

Tampa Bay area consumers hoping to make their grocery budgets stretch may want to check out Winn-Dixie’s new pricing.
The store rolled out new lower prices on more than 400 items in all of its stores Wednesday. Some of the price cuts include Sanderson Farms boneless chicken breasts for $2.50 a pound, down from $4 a pound; Prego traditional pasta sauce at $2, down from $2.10; and Winn-Dixie brand bread at $1 a loaf, down from $1.89.
The items selected for the new lower prices are “the essentials that most families have to buy every week,” the store explained on its website. “But we are not just bringing the prices down for a short-term promotion. The prices are down and staying down.”

Dubbed the “Down Down” campaign, the new pricing structure comes on the heels of other price cuts across the chain. The idea is to better position Winn-Dixie to compete against Publix, Walmart and other grocery stores.
The Down Down campaign is expected to save consumers who shop at Winn-Dixie an average of $700 a year, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The store anticipates losing about $70 million a year due to the price drops.
