19-Year-Old Autistic Man Accused Of Killing Man With Hammer

A 19-year-old autistic man has been taken into custody after admitting to hitting a man in the head with a hammer, killing him.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — A 19-year-old autistic man has been taken into custody after admitting to hitting a man in the head with a hammer, killing him.

On Thursday at 8:06 p.m., New Port Richey police received a call from Jacob Young who said a 69-year-old man was dead in his home.

Officers arrived and found the man dead from injuries to the top of his head that did not appear to be self-inflicted.

When questioned, Young said he and the man got into an argument. He said he struck the older man in the head with a hammer. Young said he then washed off the hammer and hid it under some items on the kitchen counter.

He was charged with first-degree murder and taken to the Land O' Lakes Detention Center.
