765-Pound Monster Gator Bagged in Florida
The 13-foot beast had been nicknamed Lumpy by its hunters.

Two Florida men may have just broken a record by catching a 765-pound, 13-foot long alligator by hand.
Keith Kelley and Kelly Sziy bagged the gator in the St. Johns River using only a rope, a couple hooks and sheer brute force, according to Local 10.
The two had spent months looking for the monster gator that they had nicknamed “Lumpy.”

It took the two four hours to bring the gator in. When he was brought for a weigh-in, the critter weighed so much, he broke the scale, WPXI reported.

Lumpy officially measured in at 13 feet, 4 inches. That, according to gator expert Jim Barlington is unusual. Barlington told the station most reports of “large” gators involve critters that are about 11 feet.
“So, 13 feet, close to 13 ½ feet is definitely rare,” the station quoted him as saying.
Lumpy is so large in fact, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is checking to see if he breaks a state record for being the biggest gator caught by hand, Local 10 reported.
Lumpy was ultimately killed and his meat was processed. His head, however, will be mounted in Kelley’s house, WFTV said.
Florida’s permitted alligator season continues through November.
