Broken Yolk, Gias Pizzeria Cited By State Inspectors

Outdated food, employees touching food with their bare hands and food stored at the wrong temperature are some of the violations.

PASCO COUNTY, FL – Outdated food, employees touching food with their bare hands and food stored at the wrong temperature are some of the violations Pasco County restaurants were recently cited for by inspectors from the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

The Broken Yolk, 3350 Grand Blvd., Holiday, received 15 violations on Dec. 10. Among them were:

  • High Priority – Three-spinach and cheese quiche outdated.
  • High Priority – Cook cutting tomatoes without gloves.
  • Intermediate - Slicer blade guard soiled with old food debris.
  • High Priority - Dented/rusted 4-pound can of Bumble Bee tuna and a 6-pound 10-ounce can of Chef Mate creamed sliced beef.
  • Basic - Coffee filters not stored in a protected manner to prevent contamination.

Panda Buffet & Grill at 37915 Eiland Blvd., Zephyrhills received 26 violations on Dec.. 6. Among them were:

  • High Priority - Crackers for soup not covered in center buffet line.
  • High Priority - Employee began working with food and handling clean utensils without first washing hands.
  • High Priority - Employee touching lemon wedge with bare hands.
  • High Priority - Raw beef over ready-to-eat Krab mix; raw chicken over zucchini; raw shrimp over French fries; and raw chicken over raw beef in reach-in cooler.

Hot Wok at 1414 Seven Springs Blvd., New Port Richey received 21 violations on Dec. 3. They included:

  • Intermediate – Hand wash sink used to clean cooking spatulas.
  • Intermediate - No paper towels or mechanical hand-drying device provided at hand wash sink in server station.
  • Intermediate - Reach-in cooler shelves soiled with food debris.

Tian Tian Chinese Restaurant, 6614 Ridge Road, Port Richey, received 24 violations on Dec. 7. Among them were:

  • High Priority – Food stores at greater than 41 degree Fahrenheit in the walk-in cooler.
  • High Priority - Raw animal foods not properly separated from one another based upon minimum required cooking temperature in the chest freezer.
  • High Priority - Vaseline, lip gloss and cocoa aloe gel on shelf over make station.
  • Intermediate - Slicer blade soiled with old food debris.
  • Intermediate - Food not properly date marked.

Gias Pizzeria, 7200 Ridge Road, Port Richey, had 14 violations on Dec. 7 including:

  • Basic - High Priority – Cooked chicken in reach-in cooler for more than 12 hours.
  • Intermediate - Interior of reach-in freezer and lid of make station soiled with accumulation of food residue.
  • Intermediate - No chlorine chemical test kit provided when using chlorine sanitizer at three-compartment sink/ware-washing machine.
  • Intermediate - Ready-to-eat food prepared on site and held more than 24 hours without being properly date marked.
