Flooding Expected To Continue In Pasco County This Weekend
Pasco County Emergency Management is urging everyone in flood-prone and low-lying areas to take precautions with floodwater.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — With continued heavy rains expected in Pasco County this weekend, Pasco County Emergency Management is urging everyone in flood-prone and low-lying areas to take precautions with floodwater.
Although skin contact with floodwater might not, in itself, pose a serious health risk, health hazards are a concern when water is contaminated. Floodwater can contain fecal material, bacteria, viruses and other pollutants.

- Avoid contact with floodwater and do not allow children to play in or around floodwater. Contaminated standing water can make you sick and can also contain other hazards, including dangerous wildlife, such as snakes, floating insects, etc. If you do come into contact with floodwater, wash the affected area as soon as possible with soap and clean water.
- Roads can flood quickly (flash flooding) during heavy downpours. Do not drive into flooded streets.

Water Supply Safety:
- If you rely on a well for water and you are in a flooded area, your water could contain disease-causing bacteria and may not be safe to drink. For a fee, Pasco County can perform a drinking water analysis. For more information on well water testing, contact Pasco County Environmental Lab, 727-847.-8902.
Mosquito Prevention:
- In an effort to help eliminate mosquito breeding grounds, dump and drain any containers, planters and tires that are holding water.
