ICYMI: Pint-Sized Pooch, UPS Driver Rescue Woman Who Blacked Out

The elderly woman's dog alerted the driver to a problem at her diabetic owner's home.

A little dog and an observant UPS driver are getting the credit for saving a 73-year-old Panama City woman after she blacked out on her front porch.

The incident unfolded a few days before Christmas when Nancy Clifton and her dog Sunshine went out for their daily walk, MyPanhandle.comreported. When the pair returned home, Clifton, who has had diabetes since she was 3, blacked out on her front porch, the station reported.

Sunshine, it seems, swung into action, running down the road for help. That’s when UPS driver Ted Simmons spotted the little white ball of fluff, WFTV reported.

Clifton and Sunshine are always seen together on their daily walks, so seeing the dog without its owner raised alarm bells for Simmons, WFTV noted.

Simmons quickly pulled over, followed Sunshine, found Clifton and called 911, both stations reported.

Sunshine and Clifton were both fine by the next day and had resumed their regular walking schedule.

For her part, Clifton is thankful for both Simmons and Sunshine.

“You are wonderful,” she told WFTV, referring to Simmons. “You saved my life and you saved my dog.”

Sunshine isn’t the only Florida dog making headlines as of late. Earlier this month, a springer spaniel was credited for saving its 15-year-old owner during a bear attack.
