NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — With the addition of the city's new parking garage, finding a place to park in New Port Richey will get a bit easier.

The city of New Port Richey hosted a groundbreaking Feb. 18, for its new parking structure located behind the new Keiser University at the corner of U.S. 19 and Main Street.

The $6.5 million parking structure is the largest investment along the U.S. 19 corridor in more than 20 years.

Last November, the city council approved the design for the 354-space, three-level parking garage after seeing design plans done by Fisher Architects of Clearwater. The parking structure will serve Keiser University, which donated the land for the project, as well as provide parking for local businesses and those attending events downtown. It will include several spaces for electric vehicles as well.

“The parking structure will be a great asset to the city once events return to the downtown and for the faculty and staff of Keiser University,” said City Manager Debbie L. Manns.
