Miracle Cat Survives Being Shot Multiple Times

The veterinarians in the case said the critter was hit with 25 BBs and a bullet.

Oliver the cat may have been born with a few more than nine lives.

The Jacksonville critter was brought to First Coast No More Homeless Pets earlier this week after someone decided to shoot 25 BBs and a bullet into him. While the critter needed to have one of his legs amputated following the attack, the veterinary crew at the north Florida clinic was able to save him through emergency surgery, News4Jax reported.

“He got very lucky,” the station quoted Dr. Alana Canupp as saying. Oliver suffered nerve damage from the multiple shots with the bullet forcing the amputation of the leg, she explained.

It is believed that someone used Oliver for target practice, WPBF reported.

While his experience was harrowing and his survival a “miracle,” the animal organization reported he is “healing nicely” on its Facebook page Tuesday.

What staff is finding the most remarkable is the fact that despite what he’s been through, Oliver “still loves people,” News4Jax reported.

Oliver will eventually be placed up for adoption by the animal organization. In the meantime, anyone who would like to help support his continued care or the general work of the organization can donate online through the nonprofit’s website.
