Pasco Kids Celebrate Summer With Opening Of 1st Splash Pad

Pasco County hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of Pasco County's first water cycle splash pad.

HUDSON, FL — Just in time to cool off from the summer heat, the Pasco County Commission and Pasco County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the completion of Pasco County's first water cycle splash pad.

Located at Veterans Memorial Park at 14333 Hicks Road in Hudson, the splash pad features stationary water guns, bubbling fountains and a huge bucket that dumps water on the kids.

The splash pad was a community effort spearheaded by Investigation Station, a nonprofit group devoted to providing interactive, educational exhibits that enhance children's learning.

"We chose the Veterans Memorial Park in Hudson because it is in a lower socioeconomic part of the county," said Lisa Campos of Investigation Station.

Home to a community swimming pool, Veterans Memorial Park also offers disc golf, a nature trail and an indoor recreation center featuring pickleball, volleyball, karate and tiny tots sessions.
