Pedestrian Killed In Hit-And-Run Crash; Brooksville Man Arrested

A 33-year-old Hudson man died after being struck by a pickup truck on U.S. 19.

HUDSON, FL — A 28-year-old Brooksville resident is accused of leaving the scene of an accident in which a pedestrian was killed.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 2:23 a.m. Thursday, Andres Gallo, 28, was driving a pickup truck north on U.S. 19 approaching the intersection of Krag Drive when he struck a 33-year-old Hudson man who was walking north on U.S. 19.

Afterward, troopers said Gallo fled the scene but was taken into custody by troopers on Sunshine Grove Road in Hernando County and charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving a death.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital where he later died.
