Preschoolers Raise Money for Foster Kids

A recent fundraiser in Oldsmar netted $1,000 for the Heart Gallery of Pasco and Pinellas.

The Big Bubbles Block Party in Oldsmar last Saturday might have been all fun and games, but it served a more serious purpose for the youngsters at The Learning Experience preschool in Oldsmar.

The community event was designed to raise awareness and cash for the Heart Gallery of Pasco and Pinellas. That nonprofit project is designed to put a spotlight on Bay area foster children who are hoping to find forever homes through adoption.

The online gallery features the stories and photos of dozens of kids while also offering information about adoption. The effort is funded through donations.

All told, the block party raised $1,000 for the gallery, a media release stated. The event featured activities, games, a silent auction, music and more.

“The event was part of the academy’s first-in-the-nation philanthropy curriculum at the preschool level,” the release stated.
“(The school’s) students are taught how philanthropy’s core tenets of selflessness, generosity and giving can be applied to their classroom, home life, and community for years to come, and participate each month in philanthropic activities such as hosting the block party event to benefit children in need.”
