Phase one will connect the existing Ridge Road to the Suncoast Parkway where an overpass has already been constructed. That phase began last year. The total cost is $68 million.

Phase two, which will cost an estimated $22 million but is not funded, will continue the connection to U.S. 41 at the intersection of Connerton Boulevard.

The $90 million project is designed to improve east-west roadway capacity, which is critical for the safety of residents during an emergency or evacuation.

Traffic models have demonstrated that the Ridge Road extension will reduce Pasco County hurricane evacuation time by nearly 30 percent.

The Ridge Road Extension Project website includes an overview of the project, the history of the project, wetland mitigation details and a project fact sheet.
