Sick Girl's Prom Date Trades NFL Jersey for a Tux

Jacksonville Jaguars' defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks escorted a young lady with liver cancer to her prom over the weekend.

Standing more than 6 feet tall and weighing in at nearly 300 pounds, there’s no doubt the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Sen’Derrick Marks is an imposing figure on the gridiron.

Off the field, however, he’s a teddy bear who is more than happy to make a young lady’s prom wishes come true. Marks showed his softer side over the weekend by escorting Khameyea Jennings, an 18-year-old who suffers from liver cancer, to her high school prom.

While the teen had plans to attend the event with her sister, she quickly changed them when Marks paid her a visit at Jacksonville’s Wolfson Children’s Hospital last week. Armed with a bouquet of roses and permission from the girl’s mother, the towering football player asked to be her escort. Marks even took wardrobe advice from the teen.

True to his word, Marks showed up to fetch Jennings for the prom dressed in a white-and-gold tuxedo with his long, braided hair down. He also managed to turn heads by foregoing a limo for the night by bringing his Lamborghini instead, WCTV reported.

While Jennings admitted to knowing nothing about sports, she was all smiles during the dance at the Jacksonville Zoo.

Jennings was diagnosed with liver cancer on Mother’s Day 2013, the station reported, and continues to battle the disease with frequent trips to Wolfson for treatments.

Her battle seems to have tugged at Marks’ heartstrings.

“Continue to fight and show others the strength and faith u have Khameyea,” Marks tweeted on Sunday.
