Teen Sets Fire, Wreaks Havoc at Merita Bread Factory

A 16-year-old was charged with arson, burglary and criminal mischief in the case.

A 16-year-old has been accused of  setting a fire in Merita Bread Factory in Holiday.

Pasco County firefighters went to the closed business at 3601 Grand Blvd. March 20 to put out a fire within,  according to an arrest report from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.  When it was extinguished, they discovered the fire was set by piling junk and debris and lighting the blaze with unknown means.  The fire damaged the floor and ceiling.

The teen also took metal shelf hangers and other objects to punch holes throughout the business and destroy chairs and fixtures.

He was later identified by matching his prints to those found at the scene and arrested Aug. 22, according to an arrest report.

The teen, who is from Port Richey and whose name is not being disclosed by Patch due to his age, was charged with arson,  burglary and criminal mischief.
