Update Sept. 12, 8:01 a.m.: As of Friday morning, more than $14,000 had been raised for the Heads. The girls who started the campaign to help them are now looking into buying the couple a mobile home so ”they do not have to worry in the future.”

While they don’t have wings, a group of girls from the Hudson area, have made headlines with their effort to step in and help Head and his wife, Dee.
The former Hudson residents moved to Texas for a few years and jumped at the chance to return to Florida when a job opened up for Gordon, he told FOX news. So, they loaded up their car, their three dogs and headed back to the Sunshine State. When they arrived, however, that job had fallen through. Gordon is a master plumber.

Down on their luck, with only Social Security benefits coming in, the couple took up residence in a Walmart parking lot. That’s where a group of teen girls found them living with their dogs. The teens offered to help, and while they were told no, they insisted, FOX reported.
Taking the story to Facebook and establishing a fundraiser for Gordon and Dee on YouCaring.com, the girls have managed to raise more than $7,000 to help the Heads get back on their feet.
“I am collecting money to help them get out of their car and into a hotel with their dogs to get out of this heat, and help them make things a little easier,” Michielle Tubonjic wrote on the fundraiser page. “The woman has such swollen feet from not being able to stretch out. The man has had heart surgery in the past and shouldn’t be living in a car, especially at his age.”
As word of the couple’s plight spread, donations began to pour in.
“I am floored by how much was raised for this couple,” Tubonjic updated Wednesday. “Thanks to everyone’s generosity, they are in a hotel for the next week with their dogs.”
Tubonjic said efforts are now turning to getting the family a place to live and foster homes for the dogs until the couple is back on its feet.
Tubonjic promises to keep donors updated on progress, but warns, “please bear with me as I am a full-time college student and have a lot going on.”
