Two Pasco Students Win Prestigious Scholarships
The award-winning high school seniors are Alexis Fernandez from Land O'Lakes High School and Nicholas Thodhori from Gulf High School.
LAND O' LAKES, FL – Two Pasco County students have been chosen to receive 2021 Sunshine Opportunity Scholarships, each winning a scholarship worth $20,000 over four years of full-time undergraduate study at a public university in Florida ($5,000 per year).
The award-winning high school seniors are Alexis Fernandez from Land O’Lakes High School and Nicholas Thodhori from Gulf High School. Alexis is the 2021 valedictorian for Land O’Lakes High and plans to attend the University of Florida in the fall. Nicholas also plans to attend the University of Florida where he will study civil engineering.
Established in 2019 by the Godbold Foundation, the Sunshine Opportunity Scholarships target high-achieving high school seniors who have overcome significant obstacles in life and plan to stay in Florida for their undergraduate university studies.

Information about applications for the 2022 Opportunity Scholarships will be available in the fall, with a March 2022 application deadline. Up to 10 scholarships are expected to be awarded annually.
