Woman Brings Therapeutic Horse-Riding to Kids With Special Needs
Patch readers told us who the "Everyday Inspirations" in their communities are, and we're sharing their stories and the work they've done locally.
Everyday Inspirations is a series that features people in Patch communities who inspire others through their work, or people who have faced extraordinary situations and grown from them. They have been featured by other people in the community that have been inspired by the nominees.
Name:Â Tammy Farris
Town:Â New Port Richey, FL
Nominated by:Â J.K.L. Griggs
Why is this person an "Everyday Inspiration?"Â
Tammy runs the daily operations of a childrens therapeutic horse riding facility called Kiddy Up Ranch. She has been doing this for years for over 70 families a WEEK for no pay what so ever. She has never taken any pay for herself, just puts it all right back into the program.
Tammy is married and has five daughters so she relies on volunteers to help in all areas of the working farm but still puts in over 10 hour days at the farm everyday. She truly loves each and everyone of our kids.
Has the nominee's life been changed in an extraordinary way?Â
One of Tammy's friends growing up had cerebral palsy. She has always felt a calling to help special needs kids excel to the best of their abilities. Tammy helps them excel past anyones expectations even their own.
How does this person work to make others' lives better?
Tammy is a ray of sunshine that touches every life she comes into contact with. She loves all the kids she works with, she hosts amazing special events at the farms for the families, she includes the whole family into the therapy (parents, siblings, everyone), she motivates everyone around her and she gives everything she has and never asks for anything in return.
