Work Hard on Your Yard Get? Get a Pat on the Back!

Will your yard make the cut?

Do you practice water-efficient landscaping? Do your neighbors admire your yard? If so, you could be eligible for a Tampa Bay Community Water-Wise Award.

The award program provided by Tampa Bay Water aims to recognize people who balance attractive design with Florida-friendly plants, as well as use water-efficient irrigation techniques that have a positive impact on our environment.

"Some of the benefits of a Florida-Friendly landscape are a sense of place, reduced consumption of resources, and helping to maintain our resources," said Bruce Turley, a professional landscape designer, in a press release about the awards.

Residents, businesses, builders and other organizations in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties as well as the cities of Tampa, St. Petersburg and New Port Richey are eligible to apply.The deadline is June 30.

Winners receive a custom 2013 Water-Wise landscape stepping stone during an award ceremony presented by government officials.
