The Chasco Fiesta, New Port Richey's oldest and largest festival, will kick off Friday, March 29,

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL -- The Chasco Fiesta, New Port Richey's oldest and largest festival, will kick off Friday, March 29, in Sims Park.

Kemp, Ruge & Green Law Group and Maus Nissan of New Port Richey are the main sponsors for Chasco Fiesta 2019, taking place March 29 – April 6.

The annual event that began in 1922 will feature nightly concerts, the American Indian Heritage Festival, carnival rides, a scavenger hunt, street and boat parades, a car, truck and bike show, sporting events as well as raffles for an autographed guitar and a 2019 Nissan Kicks.

Concert Lineup

Friday, March 29 from 6 to 10:30 p.m., there will be a free Christian concert featuring Building 429 and Sanctus Real at the Sims Park Amphitheater.

Saturday, March 30, there will be a country concert featuring Michael Ray and Levon. Gates open at 5:45 p.m. at the amphitheater. Tickets are $30 to $40. Click here.

Sunday, March 31 from 12:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Sims Park, the Chasco Fiesta will offer a free Bay Area showcase of bands featuring the Moses Greyhound Band, the Grumpy Band, Time Bandits, The Embry Brothers and Odyssey Road.

Monday, April 1 is Just Off Broadway, a night of free show tunes.

Tuesday, April 2 from 6 to 10:30 p.m. is Florida Folk Night with Passerine and Frankie Jay and the Chicken Parade.

Wednesday, April 3 is Rock and Jazz Under the Stars, a free concert from 6 to 10 p.m. with the Pasco All-County Jazz Ensemble and the Helios Swingtet.

Thursday, April 4 from 7 to 10:30 p.m. is Rhythm & Blues Masters, a free concert with Julie Black and Derek St. Holmes.

Friday, April 5 is Oldies Night, a free concert from 6 to 11 p.m. with The Phase 5 Band and the Atlantic City Boys.

Saturday, April 6 is Classic Rock Night featuring classic rocker Eddie Money and The Greg Billings Band. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 to $75. Click here.

American Indian Heritage Festival

A mainstay of the Chasco Fiesta, the American Indian Heritage Festival features the food, culture, dances, music and traditions of Native American tribes.

Festival visitors will have a chance to an authentic Plains Cree encampment, the Solan Spruce Iroquois Dancers, gator wrestling, Aztec dancers, a hoop dancer and singers sharing traditional Native American songs.

Carnival Rides And Games

The Covanta Chasco Fiesta Carnival will be located adjacent to Sims Park on Bank Street.The midway has a special area for younger children as well as thrill rides.

Single tickets are $1.50 or carnival-goers can buy 20 tickets for $25 and 50 tickets for $50.

Unlimited wrist bands will be available Monday through Thursday for $20 and Friday through Sunday for $25.

Sunday, March 31 - 1 to 9 p.m.

Monday, April 1 - 5 to 10 p.m.

Thursday, April 4 - 5 to 11 p.m.

Friday, April 5 - 5 to 11 p.m.

Saturday, April 6 - 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Sertoma Barbecue

For the 48th year, the West Pasco Sertoma Club will serve its famous barbecue in Sims Park in downtown New Port Richey.

In fact, from 1980 to 1995, the club held the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest number of people served barbecue at a single event.

The club will serve barbecue chicken, chopped pork and beef, and ribs.

The serving schedule is as follows:

Beef and ribs on Friday, March 29 from noon to 10 p.m., Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, March 31 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Chicken and ribs on Friday, April 5 from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, April 6 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Chasco Coronation Ball

The 34th annual Chasco Coronation Ball will take place Friday, March 29 at Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave., New Port Richey.

The formal fundraising event includes dinner, entertainment, an auction and dancing. It also recognizes two local philanthropists with a Royal Coronation as King Pithla and Queen Chasco.

Proceeds from the event go to the city's early intervention, children’s and teens program for the blind and visually impaired.

Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased online.

Parades

The 2019 Chasco Fiesta Street Parade will take place Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m. down Grand Boulevard, Circle Boulevard and Main Street in downtown New Port Richey.

The Covanta Chasco Fiesta Boat Parade is scheduled for April 6 at 1 p.m.

This is believes to be the oldest boat parade in the state of Florida. The parade starts in Millers Bayou along the Pithlachascotee River, and finishes at Sims Park.

There will be prizes for best decorated boats including $1,000 for the best overall boat.

Car, Truck And Bike Show

The Car, Truck and Bike Show hosted by the Gulf Side Corvette Club will take place Sunday, March 31 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Orange Lake in New Port Richey.

Chasco Fiesta Children's Village

The 2019 Chasco Fiesta Children's Village is sponsored by the Junior Service League. Families and kids are encouraged to come down to Sims Park from on Saturday, March 30 from 9 a.m. to noon to participate in arts and crafts activities and have their faces painted before the annual street parade.

Chasco Fiesta Sporting Events

Also on tap is a golf tournament April 5 at the Seven Springs Golf and Country Club; the Main Street Mile Saturday, March 30 at noon; and the Special Olympics 5K April 6 at the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center. Click here for details.
